Liquid level and liquid/moisture indicators allow for the fast, safe inspection of the refrigerant fluid conditions in the liquid line for regular flow and for the presence of moisture. Liquid/moisture indicators consist of a sensitive ring element that changes colour, from green to yellow, according to the percent moisture in the system. If the charge and operating conditions of the system are normal, the refrigerant fluid appears perfectly liquid underneath the lens of the indicator. When the sensitive element becomes yellow, its time to replace the filter dryer. The presence of bubbles indicates that the refrigerant fluid is partially evaporating along the liquid line.



Liquid level and liquid/moisture indicators are designed for installation in air conditioning systems (civil and industrial) and refrigeration systems that use the following refrigerants: HCFC (R22), HFC (R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A, R507), HFO and HFO/HFC blends.

When installed on the liquid line, filter dryers allow the refrigerant liquid in systems to be dehumidified and deacidified. Among contaminating agents that can cause serious damages to compressor refrigerating systems, moisture plays a major role. Water solubility in refrigerants in the liquid phase is quite low, especially at low temperatures. Consequently, when water in the system exceeds the very low limits of solubility allowed at low temperature, the excess water turns into ice, and partially or totally blocks thermostatic expansion valves and capillaries. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to equip refrigeration systems with an effective filter dryer on the liquid line.

Furthermore, Castel filter dryers are compact and strong, resistant to impact and abrasion. As a result, the fluid encounters constant, linear resistance in all points throughout, ensuring efficient dehydration and minimizing the pressure drop. Additionally, the dryer selection must be performed based on the refrigeration potential.

Castel offers different types of filter dryers, including hermetic models, models with moisture indicators, dual flow, and replaceable solid cartridges.

Good refrigerant filtering on the low-pressure side of the system is an absolute guarantee to protect the compressor. Mechanical filters, which are normally installed on the intake line, ensure that the system is cleaned and eliminate all impurities due to production and assembly of the refrigeration system.
There are two types of mechanical filters, cartridge and mesh.

The operation of cartridge filters is ensured by microfilter cartridges that remove all impurities.
Differently, mesh filters, hermetic or inspectionable, have a screen basket, with large filter surface, made of austenitic stainless steel AISI 304.
